A large part of the contention in divorce cases is the division of property between the spouses. Another issue is the alimony given to the spouses. In Turkish law, alimony is a certain amount of money received by the other spouse, who cannot afford to survive, during and after the divorce. This money is regularly deposited into the spouse’s account every month. The party with no income can claim alimony regardless of male or female. This amount, which is requested from the person who supports the house within the marriage union, can also be requested for joint children. There is no regulation that the parties must be married for a certain period of time in order to receive alimony. Such matters are evaluated within the scope of each concrete case.<\/p>\n
