Dual citizenship is the situation where a person is considered a citizen of more than one state at the same time. This may occur for various reasons:<\/p>\n

Birth: A person whose parents are citizens of different countries can automatically acquire dual citizenship by birth.
\nMarriage: A person can acquire the citizenship of that country by marrying a foreign national.
\nInvestment: Some countries grant citizenship to people who invest a certain amount.
\nOrigin: Some countries grant citizenship to people with past connections to that country.<\/p>\n

The benefits of dual citizenship are:<\/p>\n

Ease of Travel and Settlement: Dual citizens can travel and live in both countries using their passports.

However, dual citizenship also has some disadvantages:<\/p>\n

Taxation: Dual citizens may be subject to tax in both countries.

Dual Citizenship in Turkey<\/p>\n

According to the Turkish Citizenship Law, Turkish citizens born before 2003 would lose their Turkish citizenship if they acquired citizenship of a foreign state. However, this situation changed with the change in the law made after 2003. Turkish citizens born after this date do not lose their Turkish citizenship if they acquire citizenship of a foreign state.<\/p>\n

However, there are some exceptions.
