1. Conditions for Receiving Unemployment Benefits
In order to benefit from unemployment benefits, a person must meet certain conditions:

Having been dismissed from work without his/her own will and fault.
Having worked as an insured employee for the last 120 days without interruption before leaving work.
Having paid unemployment insurance premiums for at least 600 days in the last 3 years.
Applying to İŞKUR within 30 days after being dismissed.
Example: Mr. Ahmet has been working in a company for 3 years and has been insured for the last 120 days without interruption. If he/she is dismissed and the number of premium days exceeds 600, he/she will be entitled to receive unemployment benefits.
2. How is Unemployment Benefit Calculated?
Unemployment benefits are calculated according to the average of the person’s gross earnings for the last 4 months. However, 40% of the salary is paid and this amount cannot exceed 80% of the gross amount of the minimum wage. Below is a detailed calculation example:
Last 4-month gross earnings average: Total gross earnings earned in the last four months are divided by 4 and the average is calculated.
40% of the salary is paid: 40% of the average gross earnings is calculated as unemployment benefit.
Upper limit: Unemployment benefit cannot exceed 80% of the gross amount of the minimum wage.
Example Calculation:
Ahmet Bey’s total gross earnings for the last 4 months: 40,000 TL
40,000 TL / 4 = 10,000 TL (Monthly gross average)
40% of 10,000 TL: 4,000 TL unemployment benefit
However, for 2024, the upper limit is 12,000 TL, which is 80% of the gross minimum wage, so Ahmet Bey’s unemployment benefit cannot exceed this amount.
3. How Long Can Unemployment Benefits Be Received?
Unemployment benefits are paid for certain periods according to the number of premium days:
Those who paid 600 days of premium in the last 3 years can receive unemployment benefits for 6 months,
those who paid 900 days of premium for 8 months,
those who paid 1080 days of premium for 10 months.
Example: If Ms. Ayşe has paid 900 days of premium in the last 3 years, she will be able to receive unemployment benefits for 8 months.
4. How to Apply for Unemployment Benefit?
The unemployment benefit application must be made within 30 days after being dismissed. The application can be made online through the İŞKUR website or by going to the İŞKUR provincial directorates.
