Blue Card is an official document given to people who were Turkish citizens by birth but left Turkish citizenship by obtaining permission to leave, and their descendants up to the third degree. People who have this card are given an identification number by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Turkey and T.R. It replaces the ID card.

Advantages of Having a Blue Card:

Right to reside and work in the Republic of Turkey: Blue Card holders can reside and work in Turkey without obtaining a work permit.
Education rights: Blue Card holders can study in all educational institutions in Turkey with the same rights as Turkish citizens.
Right to benefit from health services: Blue Card holders can benefit from health services in all public hospitals and private health institutions in Turkey by paying premiums to SSI.
The right to own real estate: Blue Card holders can buy real estate wherever they want in Turkey.
Tax exemptions: Blue Card holders may benefit from tax exemptions in some cases.
No military obligation: Blue Card holders are not obliged to perform military service.

How to Apply for a Blue Card?

Blue Card applications are made to the authorized branches of the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs (NVİ) or Turkish Consulates abroad. The documents required for application are:

Blue Card fee is 600 TL for 2024.

Things to Consider About the Blue Card:

The Blue Card is valid for 10 years and must be renewed 2 months before it expires.
Blue Card holders may lose their Blue Card rights if they do not reside in Turkey for more than 6 months.
Blue Card holders do not have the right to vote and be elected, to hold public office or to serve in judicial bodies.
